Lingerie Lighting            Client - Marks and Spencer
LAPD, together with cutting-edge architects, Urban Salon, found the solution to this retail project came from using a contemporary approach. Bold moves with lighting were used to differentiate zones within this ‘retail shed’ environment.   Designing and developing unique bespoke products for the project enabled LAPD to leave a blueprint for the forthcoming ‘Stores of the Future’, in Swansea & Basingstoke. The lingerie department required LAPD to design bespoke light fittings.

These take the form of suspended pebbles formed from PETG that float above lingerie merchandise. Each pebble is over 2m in length and each is spaced from the next to give the impression that each one is slightly different.   In the centre of each pebble, four-way CDM gimbals scatter light around the department. Additionally, mounted within the pebble are a set of circular T5 fluorescents that making the whole pebble glow.

Product mystique is enhanced as the translucent material just allows the outline of the fluorescent to be made out.   By reducing the ambient lighting in the lingerie space, the floating pebbles create a comfortable and ultimately relaxing shopping environment.
