| Winner: Best non-high street project - Retail Design Awards 2004 Upon entry, the catwall ceiling runs from front to back, leading consumers down to the café. |
No ambient lighting is used in this space, which gives a highly dramatised look relying solely on accent to create atmosphere and pockets of interest on and around merchandise. | |
| Floating above the lingerie merchandise are suspended pebbles. These are formed from PETG and add to the ambience created from four-way CDM gimbals that scatter light around the department. | Within the café, natural daylight is encouraged to help consumers to relax in a contrasting environment. Large graphics and coloured walls are lit from a height using a flexible track system. Pools of light dapple down onto tables to create a feeling of quality, grazing the custom, design-led furniture. | |
| Perforated, internally illuminated rafts were designed to sit above the Childrenswear Department. Coloured lighting was selected that defines the rafts and ensures their visibility from the other side of the store. This colourful approach also adds fun and excitement to the Childrenswear business unit. | The lighting design concept for this retail experience uses a variation of atmosphere, colour, temperature, light levels and, of course, luminaries. These variances drive the vision of creating spaces within spaces, helping consumers subliminally associate themselves with different zones as they casually shop across the floor. |
