Petersham House is comprised of three individually important modernist houses, themed around the classic materials of wood, slate and limestone. The total living space is approximately 5,500 to 6,000 square feet.   Each individual house is conceived as a linear arrangement of rooms. The rooms are all reached from an extraordinary, double height galleried hall.

The brief was to provide a lighting scheme to provide an almost limitless level of options. In response, LAPD designed a scheme so individual enhancements could be made on sale of the properties. This included a total of 148 circuits per house to allow the lighting control to be extended to almost any level.   The scheme is set up and commissioned to interface with all other services provided in the houses. Automated blinds, motion sensors and remote control dimming only begin to paint the picture. The contemporary lighting scheme allows any area of the house to be controlled at the touch of a button.

Flexibility is incorporated where galleried halls and circulation spaces meet. En-suite bathrooms with natural daylight ports and opal glass panels glow within the houses during the day.
