| Apartments, hotels, offices, a banquet hall and a shopping centre make up the Al Faisaliah. LAPD developed concepts for the lighting while working closely with architects Foster & Partners. |
The calm environment of the foundation utilises natural daylight controlled by architectural blinds. The two upper levels house retail units, and to ensure light levels close to the retail units is kept to a minimum, lighting in the mall is centralised. This approach also ensures low loading on air conditioning. | |
| Pencil beams of light penetrate down from the ceiling to the main mall below. The effect is dappling on the central area, which gives the foundation a discrete, yet totally flexible lighting solution. | Fittings are housed in the large webbed ceiling supports using tungsten halogen to allow for dimming. Double reflectors on the fittings reduce the aperture size and ensure any glare is eliminated. |
