LAPD worked with RFK Architects and the Gallery’s curators to create a series of spaces that would provide the best possible environment in which to view the wide variety of work displayed.
LAPD’s approach was to use much lower ambient lighting levels than generally employed in galleries. Dimmable luminaires fitted with sculpture lenses and framing heads captured the artwork, creating an ambience similar to that in which the paintings were first displayed.
The lighting solution created visual impact throughout – from the Ticket Hall entrance point to the very last exhibition space
