Glasgow Girls highlighted the work of women in art and design in the late nineteenth century. Painters and designers, such as Margaret and Frances Macdonald, influenced the development of the Glasgow Style and made a significant contribution to the modern movement.
Work was displayed in room-sets off the main vista of the exhibition. Pencil beams of light lit the graphics while lighting was controlled to complement the theme of the works. Other rooms featured black velvet walls, this backdrop provided an intense contrast with the work displayed.
Towards the end of the exhibition, the works were set randomly across the space with subtle modulations of light dappling the floor.
