Client: Historic Royal Palaces    Architects: Stanton Williams

A discreet lighting solution, sympathetic to the site’s topography, was required for the redevelopment of the exterior landscape and the ticket office at the Tower of London.

LAPD’s solution ensured that the need for column-mounted luminaires in the general area was removed. The floodlights providing the illumination are contained within granite plinths and hidden behind stainless steel louvres. The amount of light required and the restricted space in each plinth led LAPD to design a sledge on which the luminaries were mounted. Constructed in stainless steel with gas struts, the frame can collapse for removal from the plinth for maintenance purposes.
