LAPD took a radical approach to the supply of the
ambient lighting for the Galleries at Compton Verney. A central linear fluorescent trough was designed to include a special curved diffuser, engineered to both diffuse light emissions and project light onto vertical surfaces.
This specialist system is dimmable and daylight linked,
including lamps of varying colour and temperature. Mixing the colour
of the lamps allows the ideal level of natural light to be generated
to compliment the artwork below.

Other services, such as sprinkler
and PA systems are located in the linear trough, allowing the ceiling
to remain as clean and un-disrupted as possible.
