Portcullis House comprises seven floors of accommodation based around a central courtyard. It provides facilities for select committees, conferences and meetings together with office space for 450 MPs and their staff. The lighting design for each office incorporates compact fluorescent fittings designed by LAPD. The fittings incorporate two 36W PLL dimmable lamps in the lower trough and three 70W metal halide lamps in the upper. This arrangement provides a dimmable high-frequency source that eliminates flicker during TV filming. The fittings also allow for many configurations of lamps and various methods of suspension.
