Lighting design was crucial to the creation of a spacious feel at Terminal 2. A futuristic solution was developed that involved locating the lighting within chilled beams. This allows the ceiling to be raised between the beams to add a feeling of height. Airport lighting standards were met by the use of high-frequency T8 fluorescent tubes. These are placed behind diffusers that bleed light across the coffers, while simultaneously downlighting. At the ticket desks,

signage is suspended directly below compact fluorescent downlighters. The aperture that lights the operator’s side is controlled discreetly using a honeycomb louvre, which ensures that glare is eliminated.
